Metsrs Wilson and Alport have little alteration to remark in the cattle market. Really prime fat cattle are in good demand privately, and few head come to the salejards. Beef may he quoted at from 32* 6d to 37s 6d per lOOlbe. Quiet store steers are readily saleable at from £6 10s to £9, according to age and size. Dairy cows.are in better demand at from £6 30b to £6 15s. Sheep dnllof sale, and transactions in favour of the buyer. The amount received §t tj*e Custom-house, Chriatchurch, during the post week was £1165 18s 3d. '■■- The amount received during the month of February was £7143 2a 7d. Hokitika.—We hare Hokitika papers up to Friday last, but the latest commercial report in them is dated the 23rd inst. It is as follows:—Mr G. W. Bihney sold to-day the entire cargo of the Queen of the' Isles—l2oo bags of oats—at prices ranging from 4s to 4e3d. The -« Daily News," of the 22nd, states :— There is very little to report this week. Some excellent lines, ex Anne Moore, have been brought under the hammer, ; and although good prices were obtained, quotations were not altered; Chaff and bran are a little lower, but the recent shipment of oati have hot affected the price. Butter, Hour, and potatoes are Srm; but sales are small, holders expecting arise. The arrival of Melbourne vessels is anxiously looked for,-the trade to the Greenstone giving every prospect of increasing demands being made upon stocks.
