In September, with a bad aten- fdance, it was hard to draw bids from the buyers, unless at mere nominal rates, but ,-at the series just terminated, the close of the season and a large quantity for offer, when it was anticipated that prices would have rather a downward tendency than otherwise, we are favoured with a full room and spirited biddings, and this we consider due to the general improvement in trade, as there is a total absence of speculation. As the old stocks—with the exception of the 13,000 bales before mentioned, have been cleared off, and the arrivals for next sales are not likely to be very excessive, with the indications of increased trade in the north, we may reasonably look forward to aome further improvement in price in February. (Signed) Miles Bbos. & Co. 79, Gracechurch street, London, E.C., 31st December, 1868.
