OAMARU.
The "Times," of the 6th instant, reports as follows:— The unfavourable weather of the past week has somewhat checked business operations. Every other day hae been wet, and it is feared that the excessive rainfall of this season will have a prejudicial effect upon the crops. The same cause has interfered with the shearing, notwithstanding which, however, considerable quantities of wool have arrived in town or are on the way. The clip of this season is estimated to reach 8500 bales, being an advance of upwards of 1200 bales upon that of last year. Three ships, viz., the Beautiful Star, Star of Tasmania, and Water Nymph, are already laid on to load wool for London, and it is probable that the Robert Henderson will make.a fourth.., A_rJee..pf J3l_per topjaas been established in flour ; Kaikanui is now quoted at £12 10s to £13. Coals have advanced 10s per ton, and are now quoted at £i 5a for Newcastle. Spirits are looking up, and an advance in value has been maintained. Wheat of good quality and in prime condition is worth" fully 4s 9d. Oats in no request, at 2s 10d. We notice with ■ pleasure, as a hopeful indication, that one of the vessels mentioned to load wool at this port, viz., the Star of Tasmania, is laid on for wheat as well as wool.
