Their Minister has presented his credentials at the City of Mexico. Miss Julia Matthews arrived in London in the Dunbar, from Sydney The rumours of Ministerial changes in Prance are denied. Armed insurgents are overrunning the Province of Viterbo, pursued by Pontificial troops. King George of Hanover has accepted the Prussian conditions for a financial arrangement. Garibaldi is held a prisoner in his own house at Caprera. When first taken there he escaped, but was recaptured, and returned under guard. The American Minister had interceded in behalf of Garibaldi, who was once an American citizen. A severe battle .has taken place on the Turkish frontier between the Turks and Montenegrins. England is seriously apprehensive of another Fenian - outbreak, troops were under orders in London to march to garrison Carlisle Castle, and all volunteer armouries in the country are to be guarded and placed in a state of defence.
