Kaiapoi—January 8.
[Before W. B. Pauli, Esq., R.M.] John McFarlane, for being the Owner of 6000 aheep infected with scab, was, on the information of H. E. Scarvell, sheep inspector, fined £200 ; to be remitted if a clean certificate be produced by July 8. Messrs. ,H. Hinge and — Dunford, on the information of Mr Jeffs, thistle inspector, were fined 5s per diem till Tuesday next, by which time, if it is proved the thistles have been removed.) the fine will be remitted. Mr Sims, livery stable-keeper, was fined £2, being the owner of an entire horse, found by the police at large in the town. Thompson t. Corrigan. — Claim, £3 3s. Judgment was given for plaintiff, £2 Iβ and costs. Ward and Reeves v. W. L. Powell.—Claim, £2 lie. Judgment by consent was. recorded. E. G. Kerr v. Newnham and Buddie.—This was a claim for the value of a dishonored promissory note, £55 2s 6d, which the plaintiff held from a second party, drawn in favor of Mr Lynskey, the bailiff to the court, and which had been received from the defendants to settle an action in the case of Ferrin v. Perrin. The defendants objected to being sued for the amount, as the bill was only payable to Mr Lynskey. The plaintiff, ho.wever, consented to a nonsuit, and Mr Lynskey will therefore have to claim the amount from the defendants. Ward and Reeves v. Oram Brothers.—This claim was one incurred by the late Kaiapoi Steeplechase Committee, and was adjourned for a week to allow the appearance of others of tha committee or stewards in support pr against the claim.,
