Southern Queen, schooner, 20 tons, The barque Rose commenced on Wednesday, discharging her inward cargo, which is being landed in first-rate condition, considering her boisterous passage from home. She is laid on for London, to follow the Wild Duck, and being a ■mall vessel carrying only about 1000 bales, she will meet with qu ck despatch. We understand that second class passengers only will be taken, for which the accommodation will be equal to first class.— Wellington Independent, April 2. The Wild Duck is a full ship, and will sail to her advertised date. She haß upwards of 2100 baleß of wool on board, besides other colonial produce. She commenced bending her satis on Tuesday, and preparing for sea. We understand that there is still room for one cabin passenger,.all the rest of the cabins arc engaged.—/ bid. The screw-steamer Souchays, commanded by Captain Pearce, which arrived here on Sunday afternoon, is to be laid on as a regular trader between Auckland and Melbourne via Sydney. We understand that it is probable that another steamer will be put on in the same trade, thus giving fortnightly communication with Melbourne via Sydney. The Souchays Is to leave thin port on Friday next for Melbourne via Sydney, in company wiih the Claud Hamilton. She is to leave Melbourne again about the l.th. touching at Sydney lor coals, and is expected to arrive here about the 18th or 19th, and to make the run to Auckland via Sydney, in six or seven days; but, although a quick boat, we believe it is simply impossible for her to accomplish it in that time, or even in eight days. Some changes are to take place next month in the destination of the Intercolonial Company's steamer. We are glad to learn that the stnamshlp Otago is to bring the next English mail from Sydney, and upon her arrival here will take the place of the Lord Ashley on the coast. The Lord Ashley will proceed to Sydney with the outward mall for May, and upon her arrival at Sydney will be placed upon the slip and undergo a thorough overhaul. Captain Randall, now commanding the Lord Ashley is, we belipve, to take charge of the Otago upon her arrival here. The Auckland is now running between Sydney and Nelson, and will do so lor some months. The Claud Hamilton will not bring the mail any more, but will probably he employed for the conveyance of horses to Auckland lor the Government, lor which services she stands second to none.— Southern Cross, March 29. The fine steamship Souchays, 439 tons, and ISO horse powes, commnnded by Captain Pearce, left Melbourne on the Hth, and Sydney on the 21st instant, at 8 a.m. She has had strong breezes from about E. by N. all the way across, sighted Cape Maria Van Diemen at. p.m. on Saturday, and came to anchor in the Harbor about 5 p.m. yesterday, having made the run in six days and nine hours against strong head winds. She has a considerable amount of cargo from both Melbourne and Sydney, and has lost two horses from inflammation out of 56 shipped. Passed a brigantine standing in the westward, 200 miles from the North Cape, and ■everal outward bound vessels yesterday.—-Veu- Zealander, March 28.
