Lyttewon Regatta, 1862.—Those of our readers who read the report of the proceedings at the public meeting at Lyttelton in connection with the revival of the regatta coxild not fail to respond to the sentiments expressed by the Resident Magistrate: we allude to those remarks having especial reference to our ship-builders and boatmen. Unquestionably, m this " Britain of the South" the character of our boatmen is as worthy of encouragement at the hands of Government as the breed of our horses."
