Early Closing Movement.—We have been requested to state that a movement is on foot amongst some of our principal storekeepers and traders of Christchurch, to introduce this desirable feature into their business operations. T iose who, like ourselves, have witnessed, the beneficial results of the Saturday •half-holiday will require but little argument or persuasion to induce them.to.fall into the views of its pro: moters in this province. The heads of the. printing profession in England could claim for-themselves, and claim wifh truth, that.tne success of the scheme was mainly attributable to the active part taken by themselves in its development: ami should the matter be taken up here in a manner its importance deserves, we do not hesitate, to.say that both by precept ana example we shall feel it our duty to give" it our warmest advocacy.
