Footpaths In The Borough

Footpath construction was the subject of a report from the works committee adopted by the Whakatane Borough Council on Monday night. v It was advised that upon investigation it had been found that it would be necessary to install nine inch pipes in King Street from Alexander Avenue to Bridge Street before a footpath on the eastern side of King Street could be constructed.

The installation of the nine inch pipes would mean a sum of £l5O being provided over and above that estimated for in the current year’s estimates. This resolution was carried.

“That the Borough Foreman be instructed to install the nine inch pipe drain, and that in the meantime, a sand footpath be constructed, and further, that an application be made to the Main Highways Board for a subsidy to cover the cost of the construction of a footpath on one side of King Street from Bridge Street to Alexander Avenue, including the provision for stormwater drainage.”

It was decided to construct a footpath on one side of the street in Alexander Avenue, out ~of ordinary maintenance.
