COUNCIL WISHES TO BUY LAND
“That representations be made to the Rivers Control and Soil Conservation Council asking for a subsidy to enable the Council to purchase the area of 1,642 acres of Melville’s land within the Wainui Ta Whara catchment area, and rthat the member for the district be .-asked to pursue the matter with the Rivers Control and Soil Conservation Council, and further, that .Mr R. J. Melville be notified that .this step is being taken.” The Whakatane Borough Council adopted this resolution, brought forward by the works committee, when it met on Monday night. The Council requires the land for tdrainage purposes.
