Annual Meeting Of Plunket Society

The annual meeting of the Whakatane branch of the Plunket Society was held on August 17> Although there was a fairly good attendance of those willing to accept nomination for. the committee, the absence of young mothers who were receiving help from the Plunket Nurse, was most noticeable, and the committee hoped, that in future all mothers would ' feel welcome to come along without any obligation to accept office. In the absence of the Mayoress, Mrs Sutcliffe presided over the meeting and congratulated 'the branch and sub-branches on - their very successful year in spite of changes in the nursing staff. Officers elected:—

Wylie; hon. organising secretary, Mrs G. Drayson; hon. treasurer, Mrs C. W. Jarrett; hon. auditor, Mrs N. H. C. Hockin; hon. solicitor, Air L. Buddie; advisory board, Dr. Dawson, Messrs L. Buddie, C. A. Suckling, W. Sullivan, R. T. Morpeth; committee, Mesdames Abbott, Duthie, Morgan, Scragg, Buttimore, Cooper, Dallas, Knights, N. Patterson, Debreceny, Akel, Righton, Bush, McCallion, Whittle.

A vote of thanks was accorded Mr C. A. Suckling the retiring treasurer, who has given 15 years of service to the Plunket Society.
