Guaranteed Price Increase Wanted
The Rangitaiki Plains Dairy Company Ltd. faces additional expense as the result of the lifting of subsidies.
The belief that higher guaranteed prices must be paid to compensate for the loss of subsidies was expressed by the chairman of directors, Mr S. C. Spence, at the annual meeting of shareholders yesterday.
The loss of subsidies would mean an even greater advantage than at present for factories near ports or coal mines, he said. The increased cost of coal alone was expected to raise the local factory’s coal bill by £4687 a year, he said.
