Land Transfererd The recent inclusion in Whakatane Borough of a small area of land in Bridge Street is confirmed in the New Zealand Gazette. This area was formerly in the Whakatane County.
Tyres in Demand Motor tyres are in demand in Whakatane. Believing that tyres will soon be hard to buy and higher in price, motorists are purchasing new sets whether or not they need them immediately.

Indoor Bowling Tonight the Whakatane St. John indoor bowling team will face another challenge for the St. John Shield. The challengers, Taneatua M.U.1.0.0.F., are a particularly strong team, and should provide an evening of very high class competition play.
Health Appointment The chairman of the Whakatane County Council, Mr J. L. Burnett, Waimana, is one of five members appointed to the"N|Z. Board of Health. Others are Sir William Ap-' pleton, Dr. Muriel Emma Bell, Sir James Elliott and Sir’Charles Hercus.
Submarine Aground When she entered the Tauranga Harbour on Friday evening H.M. Submarine Thorough ran aground on a sandbank and delayed berthing for aobut an hour. The bow of the submarine touched a sandbank just off Mt Maunganui but the craft was able to move off under the power of its own engines. Many people from the Eastern Bay of Plenty visited the submarine on Sunday.
Health Stamps It has been suggested \hat the l|d (Id plus Id) Health Stamp should be overprinted lid postage plus id. Health because of the changed postage rates. It is not intended, however, to overprint the stamp, according to advice received at the Whakatane Post Office. The Id plus id stamp can still be used extensively for posting notices of meetings, newspapers, magazines, Christmas cards, invitations, printed notifications, advertising circulars, voting papers.
Aluminium Roofs Complaints that danger is being caused to motorists by the glare of aluminium roofs are being examined by the Automobile Association. All agents and patrols have been asked to make careful observation of all motoring rutes throughout the Auckland Province, reported the touring manager, Mr R. E. Champtaloup, at a meeting of the association council. The result- of the observations would make it possible to determine if the danger was sufficiently serious to warrant further action, he added. The action resulted from a letter from the Matamata Borough Council expressing concern about the danger such roofs caused.
