Pressmen Are' Kind A tribute 1 to New Zealand pressmen and a criticism of their Australian counterparts, was voiced by the Governor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, during a visit to Linton Camp. “New Zealand pressmen are very kind. Australian pressmen are more difficult though,” commented Sir Bernard, who went on to tell of how on one occasion in Australia, after asking if there were any reporters present, he had made a semi-confidential statement to a company of returned servicemen. This had not been reported in the Australian papers, but had been sent to several English ones. The report did reach the Australian press, however, for he was quoted as having said so and so in an English paper.
