On Sunday a very successful Picnic Tournament was held and attracted a large entry of bowlers from most parts of the district. Winners were R. Spong (s), R. Wilson (No. 3), C. Head (No. 2), J. Graham (lead). Empire Games Opening The 1950 Empire Games will open at Auckland on Saturday at 1.25 p.m. with the official ceremony. The proceedings will be broadcast through IYZ and the Auckland stations and commentaries will follow on the athletic events, swimming and wrestling.
