Surf Lifesaving

WHAKATANE TEAMS ENTER N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Whakatane Surf Club has decided to enter two girls’ teams and one men’s team in the National Surf Championships to be held at Lyall Bay, Wellington, on January 27, 28 and 29 of next year. This*will be the first time since pre-war that the club will be competing against teams other than those in the Bay of Plenty and Gisborne. . The girls’ teams will be entered in the six-man event, the four-man alarm and the march past while the men will take part in beach events and individual surfing-and swimming races. All the teams will travel as one party and will be away from Whakatane for about a week.
