Maori Women’s Institute Making Good Progress

Good progress is now being made by the two Maori Women’s Institutes at Whangarua and Te Kaha, which were - recently formed it was stated at a meeting of the executive of the Eastern Bay of Plenty Federation of Women’s Institutes at Whakatane on Tuesday. The Whangarua link is just a nejw institute but that of Te Kaha has been reformed after being in recess for some time.

The president of the Whangarua Institute, Mrs Wi Repa, addressed the meeting with a report of the Maori Council meeting, which was recently held at Auckland. It was decided to. hold the annual council meeting at Otakiri on October 30 when Mrs Stewart will be the guest speaker. The competitions will be a vase of flowers, uniced madeira cake and a machine-made apron.
