SUPPLIES FOR HOSPITAL
WHOLESALE ORDERS PLACED MEMBER TAKES EXCEPTION Strong exception to the tracing of grocery and drapery orders for the local hospital with wholesale firms out of the town was. taken by Mr H. C. McCready, at the meeting of the Whakatanc Hospital Board last. Thursday. It was explained to him by the. chairman that the whole subject had been . fully discussed aind that the decision last month, had been a unanimous one. Mr McCready contended tliar the practice was not 'playing the game by the of this district' and criticised the board for -endeavouring. to conserve, a miserable £50 while at the same time it was prepared to throw away thousands, in a building scheme which was only going to be worth half the. money it was estimated tp cost. The chairman (Air L. Buddie) said that any variation of the motion should have been made at last meeting when it was fully discussed. At the present meeting the board was merely going over matters, arising from the minutes. Mr McCready then intimated that he intended to file a notice of motion that, the existing decision be rescinded at the October meeting.
