PUBLIC-SPIRITED ACTION
THE warmest appreciation must be extended by the general public of Whakatane and district, to the Mounted ' Section of the Home Guard, who in disposing of their funds decided to allocate the sum of £217 for the purchase of heated food-trollies for the Whakatane Hospital. Such a gesture affords a practical illustration of service in the interests of the community, and their thoughtful action may well be emulated by other such organisations who may be faced with similar circumstances.
