In an Issue of the Dutch (Ger-man-controlled) paper 'Volk en Vaderland' which recently readied the BBC. a revealing sidelight on the attitude of the Netherlands people lo the Nazis was provided bj T the following 'indictment.' A wireless technician called at a house to repair the wireless set. He found it in order. The housewife explained that the mains were off for the day. But would the mechanic repair the set for receiving that which 'one must not mention or hear.' since friends had experienced surprising results. This cost 85 guilders (£7 at par). Yet it Avas 'certainly net too much i£ the results were adequate.' Then another caller rang the door bell. This time it was; the 'Winter Help Fund' collector. T am not in the habit of giving to such scum,' said the good wife ; banging the' door.
