DRAIN ON MANPOWER
INGLEWOOD COUNTY'S CONCERN SUPPORT FROM WHAKATANE Writing to the Wlmkatane County Council the Inglcwood County Council brought to its notice the following resolution unanimously adopted at a meeting of the Inglcwood County Council held on the 13th- April, and asking that this council's views in support of this question of National importance be forwarded to the Government at the earliest opportunity. The motion read as un- v tier: — "That this council, viewing with, grave concern the existing policy of withdrawing from industry for home defence forces for the duration of the war the available manpower renquired to' maintain the country's economic stability, rccommendsHhe A Government that, after a period .ofJjH training, men should be returned JkTs"l industry and to their homes wjftlv - full military equipment. They should then become members of a militia, incorporating the Home Guard, such military organisation to . - be compulsory and to lie kept at an ' - efficient level by compulsory at' tendance at parades." After a short discussion the Wha- ■ katane County decided to support Inglewood County Council herein.
