LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
WHAKATANE BRANCH The monthly meeting of the League was held in.Knox Hall on Tuesday last, Mrs W. Sullivan being in the chair. The rules and objects of the League were read, all present joining in the Lord's Prayer, Members' Prayer and a war-time Litany. The thought for the month 'We who would live in peace and rest, must hear and see and say the best' was given by Mrs M. Ramson. The an' nual report of the Dominion Council was read, also a report of the I conference held by the Parncll-St-Heliers-Mission Bay-Remuera 1, 2 and 3 branches. The address was . given by the Rev. J. L. Gray who stressed the central object of the League to strive for high ideals in the home. Mr Gray stated his message of to-day did not altogether contain word of comfort as-to the j state of happy home life. The lies in the Government making edu| cation .secular —it leaves untouched the great sphere of the spiritual life of the child. A short message to the conference was given by each president. M.rs Gartshore then d!tf!*~j£j very interesting reading entitled'OpT your hands.' Mrs R. Campbell read a humorous extract from 'Evening crowns the Day' by Miss Faithful. Mrs S. Miller greatly pleased the audience with her delightful rendering of three songs 'O, for the wings of a Dove,' 'The Angelus' and 'The Stranger of Galillee.' :e Afternoon tea was served by two g members of the committee, after y > which the meeting closed by tha singing of the National Anthem.
