BOARD HAS NO SAY

RESIGNATION OF NURSES

When notification from the Manpower Officer at Paeroa giving permission to several nurses to resign were read out at the monthly meeting of the Thames Hospital Board, members expressed surprise at the way in which these matters were handled. One speaker remarked that the beard had no say in the disposal distention of its own employees now; it had not even received a written resignation in at least one of the cases. Mr C. W. Parfftt moved that the secretary be instructed to write to the Manpower Officer asking for clarification of the position. When this question was referred to the District Manpower Officer at Paeroa, he explained that the question of giving notice of termination of employment rested with the employee and not with the District Manpower Officer.
