Mr and Mrs Fred Maxwell, of Auckland, spent the week-end as the guests of Mr and Mrs W. F. Ward. Mr M. At Friday's meeting of the Whakatane Harbour Board leave of absence was granted Captain C. H. Brebner, who has acted as consulting engineer to the Board in the past. At Friday's meeting of the Harbour Board members expressed regret that the chairman, Mr J. W. Sumner, was seriously ill and it was decided to write a letter of sympathy to him. Mr W. Ri. Boon occupied the chair at the meeting in the absence of Mr Sumner.
