CHANGE OF SEASONS
SUMMER MONTHS APPROACH
SPORTS CLUBS PREPARE
The! mild spring weather and bright sunshine enjoyed lately has spurred summer sports enthusiasts to prepare for the forthcoming season. Rugby football competitions have concluded and with their passing a short spell of comparative inactivity on the playing fields ensues until the weather settles to establish the summer season.
Bowling and croquet club members are eagerly awaiting October 18 when the season is to be officially commenced, and with cloth and polish bowls and mallets are being brightened after being in seclusion for the winter. Greenkeepers and their helpers are on the job with the object of making the conditions for the opening of the 1941 season better than; ever.
Those clubs arc looking forward to successful seasons, while the followers of "King Willow," though lesser in numbers than last year, will replace lost numerical strength with increased enthusiasm. The cricket field will find itself occupied with players cither younger or older than it has for some time, but every effort will be made to keep the 1 fine old game alive.
Swimming, boating and camping enthusiasts are beginning to feel the urge and though this year greater responsibilities fall on those at home, spare time is less, and funds are shorter, they hope' to still find time to enjoy the summer of the Bay. With the introduction of the warm winter sports next month a rapid change of scene Avill eventuate and summer will be here oncc more..
