LYCEUM CLUB

SOCIAL AFTERNOON A most cruo.vable afternoon wa.s held at the Lyceum Club on Thurs(lay afternoon, when the hostesses for the afternoon, Mrs Gartshori* Misses M. Whiteside, B. Allan and. r>. Boon entertained the club. A play produced by Miss Allan was called "Song of Sixpence" and the following was : Mrs Persimmon, Mrsi James; Ang. c!n, Miss D. Boon; Ursula, Mrs WinJosephine, Mrs Thomas: Phobe, Mrs Runciman. Edith, Miss Allan. Several enjoyable songs by a visitor from Christchurch, Mrs Clurderv <.vert very much appreciated. Mrs A. Smith (Awakeri) also delighted tlv fuidience with some piano solos. A novel competition was won by Mrs Gartshore. j Afternoon tea was afterwards served by the hostesses. Those present were Mrs S. Spencc, Mrs E. Armstrong, Mrs G. O'tley, Mirs C. Southey, Mrs James, Mrs A. Smith, Mrs Gartshore, Mrs Cole, Mrs Appleby, Mrs G. Booth, Mrs Winstone, Mrs Brabant (Senr), Mrs Blair, Mrs Luxton, Mirs G- Farmer, Mrs G. G. Lucas, Mrs N". Carter (Taneatua), Mrs Rogers (Taneatua) Mrs C. Thomas 1 ., Mrs Curdery (Christchurch), Mrs Cairns, Mrs Miatthcws, Mrs S. Carter, Mrs Warner, Mrs D. Boon, Misses Greenup, Howell, Whiteside, Allan, Boon and Tait. The singing of the National Anthem brought the afternoon to a close.
