THORNTON GUARD
TRIBUTE TO LATE MR REYNOLDS I The Thornton Home Guard resumed its parades on Saturday afternoon after an interval of some Aveeks during Avhich many of it* members AA r ere engaged in work in connection with the search of the Rangitaiki m-er and beaches for the body of the late Mr F. J. avlio Avas a platoon commander in the Guard. During the parade the commander, Mr V. Carter, addressed the guardsmen on the subject- of the loss Avliicli the community in; general and the Home Guard in parti' cular had suffered through the untimely passing of Mr Reynolds, whose cheerful personality had con-*-tributed in no small measure to the entusiasm of the local platoons. As a tribute to their late comrade tihe gaurdsmen observed a minute's silence, Avith officers at the salute. The pfetoons marched to the Ran gitaiki Rifle Range for further musketry practice.
