SIXTY TONS OF FLOUR
THE first tangible effort to safeguard this portion of the country against a possibility of food shortage, was enacted last week when an exploratory officer of the Wheat Committee visited the town and found suitable accommodation for an allocation of sixty tons of flour for storage. It has been pointed out at various Patriotic and E.'P.S. meetings the necessity for spreading the food supply evenly over the country, so that in the; event of an emergency arising there will not be the possibility of its complete destruction through being stored in one place. Sixty tons are calculated to supply WhaJkatane and countryside with bread for six weeks. In common with the local community we join issue: with the agitation to increase the allocation and further to employ the same system to all food commodities of a vital nature.
