He was passed as fit for active service and did not return home. His parents; were worried about him because they had no inkling of his intention. Two days later he wrote them a letter confessing he had joined the Army. A certified copy of a birth, certificate has been sent to the authorities, so Private Geonmell may yet become a civilian again.
