COUNTY ELECTIONS
MR F. J. SAVAGE NOMINATED REQUISITION FROM RATEPAYERS On Saturday last Mr F. J. Savage of Nukuhou Riding received a requisition from ratepayers of this riding, signed by electors representing 75 per cent of the votes likely to be recorded! at the poll, asking him to consent to be nominated as' a candidate to contest the com- | ing county elections. The policy outlined by the requisition, asks Mr Savage, if elected to carry out the following policy:— (1) Oppose the Council sacrificing the remaining equity the farmers hav r e in their land for assisting in Government building schemes. (2) That he Avill endeavour to get the Council to urge the l Main HigliAvays Board, to tar seal the Main Highway from Taneatua railAvay station to Opotiki, through Waimana and Nukuhou, by the shortest all-AVcather route, in the same Avay as roads have been treated in other parts of the county. (3) To urge tlie Council' to provide: money, by obtaining GoArcrnmeint grants, for the, purpose of widening one-way tracks., sucih as are found at Wainui and cither places in the riding, in order to give reasonable room for cream lorries and other vehicles to pass, each other Avithout danger of accidents. Mr Savage readily agreed Avith this policy as it already coincides with his opinions on county matters and he has acccpted! the requisition and the pledge l of the signing ratepayers to giive liiin all their votes at the poll. He has been nominated by Messrs E. P. Woolfield and R. Black. P.B.A.
