LOST THE TOSS—AND HIS LIFE
The toss of a coin on Dunkirk beach during the evacuation is believed to have cost an Army chaplain his life, Benedictine monks at Ealing Priory tell how one of their order. Father Jervase Hodson-Matthew:-:. stood on tV beach with two other chaplains as the last boat was leaving for England. There was room for only two. They tossed for it, and Father Jervase lost. He has not been heard of since, md is presumed dead.
