EDGECOMBE BRANCH

The monthly meeting of the Edgecumbe Women's Institute was held on Tuesday. Mrs Learning presided and there was a good attendance. Mrs Hodson and Mrs Brady were appointed delegates to the Council meeting in Whakatane.

Mrs Withy; of the Matata Institute, gave a demonstration of tatting, Mrs Withy also gave a helpful talk on the duties of officers and committee members. Mrs Fowell who has ably carried on the duty of secretary was presented with a bouquet and small gift on her retirement from that office. Mrs Burgess, secretary, was presented with a shoulder spray. The roll call "A cure for the Blues" was well answered by all present—gardening being the most popular "cure." Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Brady and Mrs Snelling.
