WOMEN HERD TESTERS
appeal for trainees
COURSE IN MARCH
Women who have taken up herd testing under the New Zealand Dairy Board's Herd Improvement Department to fill vacancies left by men joining the colours have proved very successful at the work, and it is the Department's desire to enrol more trainees for training at such important work so> that further vacancies both actual and anticipated can be Riled.
The appeal is being made to farmers daughters, who have an inclination for the work, and who could undertake to travel to some extent. The supervisor of tho Department, Mr C. M. Hume, has enlisted the support of the Dominion Executive of the Women's Auxiliary, which claims that it can obtain sufficient recruits and he expects to receive from that organisation a list of names by the end of this month.
However, he reports that direct enquiries have been disappointing, only about 11 having- been received, to date, and in view o4' the fact thai the Department will not have the use of Massey College Hostel again until November, it wishes to obtain a complete roll by March when a
course at the college is definitely to be held.
Mr G. R. Kent, district officer for Wfeakata-nc, is at present seeking recruits to take the three months course at Massey College and any daugjhteiis of farmers of this district \\4io wish to offer their services can obtain any further information they desire from hiraf.
