HIGH PERCENTAGE
MEDICAL EXAMINATION OF BALLOTED MEN One hundred and nine men drawn in the first ballot have been examined by the Whakatane Medical Board and the percentage of mfcn passed as fit for service—the same standard being set as that for overseas service—is one of the highest, if not the highest, to be recorded in New Zealand. Seventy-one men were declared fit, four temporarily unfit and 35 permanently unfit. This gives a percentage of'6s. An examination of results recorded is other centres shows that about 50 per cent pass fit, 30 peir cent 1 temporarily unfit and 20 per cent permanently unfit.
