INSTITUTE GARDENING CIRCLE (Beacon Correspondent). The monthly meeting of the Wai-mana-Nukuhou Women's' Institute Gardening Circle was held at the home of Mrs Mannion, Waimana. The arrangements for the dance to he held on Thursday, September 19 for patriotic funds, were finalised as they were omitted at the W.I. meeting earlier in the month. A competition, guessing the names [of leaves, was won by Mrs Woolfield. It was decided to grow Gladioli for a competition. The day's competitions were:— Best Vegetable: Mrs G. Stansbury (Lettuce) 1, Mrs Hughes (Leelc) 2, Mrs Eagle (Onion) 3. Best Flower; Mrs Bell (Stock) 1, Mrs Mitchell (Geranium) 2, Mrs Hughes (Calendula) 3. Six Distinct Daffodils: Mrs Stevenson 1 and 3, Mrs Hughes 2. Three Distinct Daffodils-: Mrs Stevenson 1 and 3, Mrs Duckcr 2. The hostesses were Mrs Ducker and Mrs H. Wardlaw, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mrs Manni«n for the use of her home.
