FIVE HUNDRED VOLUNTEERS
The addition of forty five further names to the list of volunteers published on page 2 of this issue bnings the total number recorded in this district to over 500 men. This list however would be .increased by the inclusion of the names of men who have volunteered for the Air Force or for special service, the whole constituting a record; which is a glowing testimony to the loyalty and devotion of the young men of our town and district. The sight of so many men. of the Third Echelon on leave at the present time is a further forcible reminder of the whole-hearted rtianner in which the response has been made, and ut is gratifying to reflect that long after the war our district will enjoy the proud' reputation of having furnished no less than five hundred men who came forward of their own freewill and were accepted for service in the cause of freedom and Empire.
