THE OLD FIRM
OPEN AGAIN FOR BUSINESS "Open again for business at the old stand, one of Whakatane's besi> known concerns hopes to sec all old and new friends, and the management trusts that the cordial relations which have existed in the past will continue, now that it is in a position to give even better service to clients." Even if he didn't actually say it this Constable T.J. Cummings looked as if he was thinking it when he and his staff moved into their new quarters in the commodious offices at the beginning of the week. Most of tlie people who have seen over the building have thought that it would make quite a nice little dwelling with its tiled fireplaces, cream painted walls and stained floors. There is abundance o? cupboard room enough to delight the heart of any housewife. After the inadequate accommodation of the last few months it is pleasing to sec such an important branch of public service properly housed, and no doubt the improved conditions will be reflected in the work of the. Whakatane police, though this is, of course, already of a high standard.
