MR. J. W. SUMNER
WORK FOR RANGITAIKI FACTORY SUPPLIERS VOTE £100 The absence of Mr J. W r . Sumner, retiring member of the directorate, was commented on with real regret by the Mr W. A. McCracken, and by other directors and suppliers, in the course of the annual meeting on Thursday of the Rarigitaiki Plains Dairy Co. Ltd. at Edge. cumbe. The meeting voted £ 1 part o; which will be used to purchase an illuminated address to be presented to Mr Sumner at a public function and the balance will be handed to him. Mr MeCracken said Mr Sumner had given sterling service to the company as a. director and as chairman. He was one of the pioneer shareholders and directors from the inception of the company in 1910 and had been a director continuously to the picscnt, yrith the exception of a very short period. •> It was fitting that the shareholders should recognise the services of Mr Sumner, and he suggested that they should mark his very valuable work and show their great respect and admiration for him by a presentation. (Applause). Mr MeCracken suggested that they vote £100, from which, an illuminated address could be purchased, the balance to he handed to Mr Sumner. Other tributes were added to the chairman's, including one from Mr F. J. Reynolds who said that Mr Sumner's services were appreciated by every member of the company. He was very pleased to second the suggestion. Mr Lambert endorsed what had been said. Mr Sumner had given yeoman service in public matters. The chairman's resolution was carried unanimously.
