KILT AND TARTAN
LOCAL BAND PARADES GOOD SHOWING AT FOOTBALL One of the highlights of last Saturday's football match in the Whakatane Domain, was the initial appearance of the Caledonian Society's Pipe Band in complete uniform. The band turned out in accordance with the decision 01 the Society 1 to assist as far as possible in functions held in connection with the Queen Carnival, and it is certain from the comments of the onlookers that the pipers made a very favourable impression . Marching from the Rock, brave in the glowing Grant tartan, the band played up to the grounds under the leadership of Drum-Major Craig, and with Pipe-major Patterson on the right flank. Arrived at the grounds the band delighted the crowd with a demonstration of marching, countermarching, figure drill and standing .selections, for which they received warm applause. The public of Whakatane will bo looking forward to the next occasion on which the band parades.
