COST OF REPLACING WHARF Outstanding rents amounted tn £G1 Isss, and outstanding wharfages to about £10, said the report placed befoie the Whakatane Harbour Board at its meeting on Friday. It was agreed that the wharfage position was eminently satisfactory. The clerk reported that the board's cash position was a credit of £3334 -Is 7d of which £1800 was on fixed deposit. Interest due to end of September amounted to £-2005 7s, Public Trustee, and other interest and charges £308 17s 3d. Funds were being accumulated in anticipation of the considerable expenditure which would be involved In replacing portion of the present wooden wharf in concrete. For this purpose it was hoped that there would be a closing credit in the accounts of £2000. Receipts to date of meeting were £8,597 16s 9d and pay* ments 2s lOd. The payments included expenditure on works of approximately, £2,300'. July wharfages amounted to £317. Accounts amounting to £761 9s 6d were passed for payment.
