WHAKATANE WINS KUSAB SHIELD The Whakatane County representative hockey team the same one as selected to play the touring Suva team, played a match against the Rotorua representatives at Rotoiui on Sunday for'the Kusab Shield. The match was a good exhibition of the game and really fast hockey was the order of the day. Whakatane proved superior in all departments and won by 6 goals to 2. The forwards showed great improve ment and it would seem that the selectors have at last got a good line together. Charlie Free at centre forward holds the line well together. K. Civil at right wing and Johnston at left wing played well, Civil netting the first goal for Whakatane. H. O. Stewart played what must have bom the best game of his career and well justified his selection. He scored two goals. S. Learning at inside left has conic back to form after a poor this season. Both his goals driven into the net with tremendous force. The decisive element in the g'<me. however, was the experienced halfback line. Ponte Aimai > left half.
