JUNIOR TROUBLES
RUGBY UNION'S CONCERN DISCUSSION AT MEETING I The unsatisfactory position of junior football, with teams affiliated to senior clubs and only having indirect representation on the union, junior teams functioning as clubs while senior clubs had no juniors the changing of juniors from one team to an. o'ther and short handed teams -was briefly discussed when the Whakatane Rugb3 r Sub-Union met on Wet , ., nesday evening. The matter was introduced by Mr J. T. White (Whakatane) who said that Old Boys' players turned oul for one team one week and the other team next week. The practice was causing annoyance among other clubs Mr W. S. Henderson said that the practice of- dropping men from the A team to the Reserves should be stopped. Reserve men could be allowed to come up. Mr Henderson added that junior football here was in an extraordinary state. They had junior clubs decapitated and senior teams with no jun. iors. The affiliation of these junior teams should never have been allowed. The Rev W. Rangi (Ruatoki) said that the position was unconstitutional Mr Conolly said the Scouts put in a third grade 'team and now wanted to draw players from other teams. I Mr Henderson said the Scouts were weakening other teams to make up | their own team. He would discuss the matter with Mr Miller. MIDGET GAME Mr Gee (Taneatua) said the two schoolmasters at Taneatua had applied for permission 'to hold a midget iseven.a-side tournament at half time during the matches there. Permission was granted. * The Waimana Glub notified that the juniors would withdraw from the competition. The third grade draw was fixed az Old Boys versus Whakatane and Tanea'tua. versus Scouts. D. Old, Taneatua, was regraded to the juniors from the senior team.
