■FAVOURABLE REPORT ON DISTRICT HOUSES The annual meeting of the Tauranga Licensing Committee, held in the courthouse, Tauranga, was attended by Mr E. L.' Walton. S.M. rChairmanV Messrs J. Brown. N. Anderson. Horse Shoe Inn, Matata, and the issue cf an accommodation licence was granted to M. J. P. Dunderdale Te Tcko Hotel. , It was announced that a letter had been received from the Arawat Land Co., Ltd., Matamatn. intimating that they were iiromot ing a private Bill for the purpose of empowering tlfc Tauranga Licensing Committee to grant a licence for a hotel at Mata mata- in place of the lapsed accommodation license at Maketu. J Mr Bell, solicitor, of Matamata, said he wss present to answer anv questions which the comm'ttee might w\sh to ask. The chairman of the committee iulu Mr Bell that the committee had no comment to make at the present stage. CRIPPLED CHI LDP.EN A donation of two guineas was made by the Whakatane Borough Council to the Crippled Children's Society after a ]}v; e £ discussion at Monday night s meeting. The societv for-varded its annual accounts, and -ecniested the appointment of p, local committee. The. clerk reported that ho had discussed the matter with a representative of the society who had told him that there were five or MX cases in the district. The society could help with medical treatment, schooling and vocational training. Cr ,F. Prideaux said he willing to serve on a smpll committee It had been suggested that in addition it consist of Dr E. T. Mr C. G. Lucas as secretary and Mr D. V. Saunders.
