CATTLE DOG TRIALS

THE TE TEKO CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD Mr C. F. Eivers presided at the annual meeting of the Te Teko Cattle Dog Trial Club held recently at which there was a fair attendance of members. Before commencing the business of the meeting, the chair, man made passing reference to the late Mr T. B. Dunderdale, one of the club's loyalist supporters over a long period of years. A motion of condolence wag passed in the usual manner. The balance sheet presented by the. secretary, Mr' J. B. Thomas showed the club to be in a particularly sound position financially. It was unanimously decided to hold the annual trials on June 21 (Wednesday). Election of officers resulted as follows:— Pa.tron:,,Mr F. W. Doidge M. P; president: Mr C. F. Eivers (re_elect_ ed unanimously) ; vice-nr sidents: Messrs ,F. B. Cutler, W. McCracken, J. Plamus, C. and H., Birch, R. Baskett W. J. Sullivan, R. Glen and Johnstone Bros; treasurers: Messrs C. Eivers. and D . Maedonald; secretary: Mr J. B. Thomas; judges., dog events: Mr C. McKenzie; horse events: Mr W r . McCracken and Mr J. Jamieson; t'mekeeper: Mr W. Hutton; dog steward: Mr A. Jamieson; 'gatekeepers: Mr T. Melrose and T. Edwards. NOTES. The Armstrong Cup which was woo outright by Mr T. Garlick in 19->3 and generously presented by him to the club for competition for the next five years was again won by Mr T. Garlick with a total of 262 points. Mr C. Eivers was runner-up with 209 points. Mr D. Allan next with 203 points. The club' decided to purchase a. cup valued at eight guineas to be competed for under the same conditions as the . Armstrong Cup viz:— To be won outright by the competitor compiling the most points in live years. In addition to this the programme has been made more attractive by th 1 generosity of "Mrs T. 'B. Dunclerdalc.' who has donated a beaut'ful cup, to he known as the "Dunderdale orial Crm.'' for annual competition. To be held by the competitor residing in the Whakatane County scoijng most points. A gold medal presented by Mrs R. Baskett goes to the winner of the above cup. The ''Drovers Cup" 1 presented L>y Mr T. B. Dunderdale. A gold medal presented by Mr R. Baskett to the winner of the Drovers' Cup. The Garlick Rose Bowl presented by Mr T. Garlick for the dairy farmer's dog scoring most points. These fine cups are on display at the Te Teko Hotel. Special prizes for novices etc. presented by Mr D. Allan, Mr A. Cori">ett and Mrs Dunderdale. Sheep antl lurkey for weight guessing competitions presented by Mr D. Macdonld. Rug for competition by Mrs T. J. Dunderdale. NEXT WEDNESDAY'S MEETING The usual list of popular horse events is also ineludul on thg programme. The catering is in the cap able hands of the Te Teko branch o> the W.D.F.U. also the dance which will be held in the Te Teko Halt in the evening.
