GLIDER FLYING IN NEW ZEALAND
"IMPOSSIBLE TO CONFORM TO REGULATIONS" There were great.possibilities for glider flying in New Zealand, but enthusiasts were being thwarted by Government regulations, which were so numerous that it was almost impossible to conform to them all, said Mr S. H. Georgeson, of Irishman Creek Station, Lake Tekano who returned from England recently. As a member of the London Glider Club, says the "Otago Daily Times," Mr Georgeson recently won th«* "Silver C," the second highest world award for gliding, given by the Federation Aeronautique Internationale. "I very .much hoped that I would be able to continue gliding with New Zealand clubs, but it appears 'that although there is great enthusiasm for the sport in New Zealand, Air Department regulations are so restrictive at present that it is almost impossible to make a start," Mr Georgeson said.
