Competitions At August Meeting

Two Demonstrations Of Handwork The August meeting of the Hairini-Tauranga South Women's Institute was held in the Wrigley Street Hall, the president, Mrs S. A. Woods, welcoming a large number of members and several visitors. Birthday sprays were presented to four members. The roll-call "A hint I would like to pass on," proved to be very helpful. Mrs Faulkner gave a demonstration on the making of string shopping bags', , and Mis Lodge demonstrated the making of auilted sponge and cosmetic bags. Accompaniment for community singing was played, by Mrs H?:oxk:rson at the piano. Competitions resulted as folljws: Trophy, something new from something old; Mrs Iverson 1, Mrs Elder and Mrs Buchannan ecual 2: bloom, vase of yellow flowers, Mrs Ridder 1, Mrs Richardson 2; best bloom, Mrs Ridder 1: Mrs Arthur 2; best cluster, Mrs Ridder 1, Mrs Mason 2.
