Deprived Of All Liberty
Protest By Archbishop Of Prague Stripped Of Church Estates Without Trial (Rec. 9 a.m.) . London, Aug. 17. The Archbishop of Prague (Dr Beran) has protested against his treatment by the Communist-domin-ated Czechoslovak authorities. Archbishop Beran has been interned at his palace since June 19. deprived of all personal liberty and all his rights as Archbishop, and forbidden visitors. This, said the Archbishop, was without any' kind of investigation, without any court, or other official decision.
Other details' of the Archbishop's protest are that the Government has seized his administrative office, some of his official funds as Archbishop have been stopped and that his church estates have been nationalised, without him even being told. He has already—without success—made several protests about these things.
