Rate Collection

An intimation that a rate collection of over 99 per cent, would be gained this year was given the Tamanga Borough Council, at its monthly meeting, by the Town Clerk (Mr R." B. Shearman).

Street Improvement The action of the Borough Engineer (Mr C. W. Boak) in doing formation work and metalling on the west boundary of the new State housing block as houses were being burlt on this street, has been approved. # Abattoir Extensions

The Borough streets sealing programme has been delayed owing to the'non-delivery of the spraying plant. Pointing this out, the engineer stated that this was due entire y to the shortage of necessary steel. It was still possible, he added, that the plant might come -to hand and permit some, i*f net all, of the priming in April or May. The bitumastic material was in stock, but not anything like the full amount of chips. The possibility of hiring a spraying plant was mentioned by Cr L. P. Lees.
