Better Climate Than Tauranga

Claim By Mount Maunganui

(Times Correspondent)

The view that Mount Maunganui as a borough should endeavour to publicise itself to a greater degree was voiced by a member of the Mount Maunganui Chamber of Commerce at this week's meeting when a speaker asked if the chamber did not consider that steps should be taken to have published the hours of sunshine in the borough which enjoyed cne of the best climates in New Zealand.

He pointed out that Taurange made a great deal of the fact that it enjoyed as much or more sunshine than other places and contended that Mount Maunganui enjoyed even better hours of sunshine and less rainfall. Another member pointed out that the ligures for Tauranga were recorded at the aerodrome, which had .a severer climate than Mount Maunganui. The chamber decided to investigate the possibility of obtaining the necessary equipment to record the rainfall and sunshine in the borough and to have Mount Maunganui's figures officially recognised along with other towns where such records were taken.
