(P.A.I Rotorua. Dec. 22 The constructron of the tower on the top of Mount Ngongotaha, known as Parry’s Lookout, has been completed by the Tourist Department. Because of its exposed position, workmen had difficulty in erecting the large structure. From it. sightseers can obtain a good view of the surrounding countryside. The platform, which is 12ft by 12ft stands 20ft above the ground. It is supported by four large wooden beams set in 6 ft of concrete. Over it is an iron roof. A round table on whcih the land marks in the locality will be indicated will be placed in the centre of the platform. The new bridge leading into the Whakarewarewa reserve has _ also been completed. Built by the M orks Department for the Rotoura Borough Council, the Tourist Deoartment and the Department ot Maori Affairs, the structure is as wide as the former bridge and a little longer. Entrance to the bridge is gained through a carved gateway. The rails are at present painted white, but some of the residents of the village are hoping to have them carved.
